Magical Cat Academy is an interactive game series introduced as Google Doodles for Halloween in 2016 and part 2 in 2020. The game follows the adventures of Momo, a cat who attends a magical school Magic and must fight against various ghosts and monsters with his wand. The games are divided into different levels, each level has a different theme and enemies but mainly ghosts with distinct appearances. Ghosts are defeated by clicking and swiping the mouse in certain shapes, corresponding to the symbols on the ghost's head. Swipe directions include horizontal lines, vertical lines, "v" shapes, "ʌ" shapes, and lightning bolts, most of which will summon lightning that weakens all enemies on screen. Occasionally, players can swipe in the shape of a heart to regain health. It's fun, colorful and challenging, and it also includes some interesting facts about the creatures and the environment.
A group of Google producers, engineers, and artists made the game. They drew inspiration from their own vintage video games, Halloween customs, and cats. Additionally, Silas Hite and Jacob Howcroft's original sound effects and music are featured in the game. The public embraced the game and gave it high marks for inventiveness, accessibility, and humor.
